The Washington County Health Department provides Health Care Services that include the following: Cancer detection, child health, dental health, family planning, HIV/AIDS, Home health and alternative services, Hypertension, Immunizations, Laboratory, Nutrition services, Sexually transmitted diseases, Social Work services, and Tuberculosis.The Health Department also provides the following: health-related information, education, and promotion services to the public: Birth and death certificates, Disease outbreak investigations, Health education, Health information materials, Health statistics, Occupational health, Older citizens’ health care and Public health Nursing Services.

Serving area residents for more than 40 years, Washington County Hospital and Nursing Home offers skilled and long-term care to Washington County. Along with its 30 licensed beds in the hospital facility and 73 beds in the nursing home, Washington County Infirmary features a strong staff of physicians dedicated to enhancing health care in the community. Infirmary Home Health Agency of Washington County offers assistance to homebound patients in need of medical care. The newly renovated hospital features a 24-hour emergency room, X-ray and laboratory facilities, ultrasound, mammography, physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.Specialty clinics offer the following services: orthopedic, cardiology, podiatry, E.N.T., gastroenterology and gynaecology.
Two full-time board certified doctors specializing in family practice are currently on staff. These doctors offer family planning, E.P.S.D.T. (Medicaid immunization program), school physical’s, and work physical’s. Along with these two doctors are two full-time family practice nurse practitioners. A doctor specializing in internal medicine is also on staff.

is located in Chatom and serves the entire
county. The library provides many
services, including Internet service, reading
programs for children, and a bookmobile,
which travels throughout the county.

“ECI is a private, non-profit organization located in Chatom, Alabama that provides quality, comprehensive services to adults in Washington County who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. ECI strives to help each individual they serve achieve greater independence in his/her life. Services provided by ECI include day training, in-home respite care, personal care, and an on-site group home. Each of the services provided is individually tailored to help each man/woman achieve his/her personal goals. ECI is a partner agency of the United Way of Southwest Alabama.”
